Emilio and Sara Fernandez are conducting a toy drive for the next several weeks to gather enough toys to give out at Christmas. If you would like to participate you may bring and unwrapped toy and drop it off in the box placed out in the narthex.

Thank you for blessing those less fortunate this year through your donations.

A Note of Welcome from the Senior Pastor

Thanks so much for taking the time to visit ‘Good Shepherd’ online.  Our website will give you a cursory appreciation of where we are, who we are and what we do, but I do hope that you will soon be visiting us in person. Please consider this to be your personal invitation!  J

As you know every church is a living organism through which Jesus Christ wants to reveal Himself; His love for a world alienated by sin, His hope for a world lost in darkness and His faith in a people that respond to His Word. At Good Shepherd we’re not perfect but simply a work in progress.  In fact I often see us as a building site.

Here believers are working on their personal relationship with the Lord; we’re working to see more of Christ revealed in our family life; we encourage one another and reach out through our small groups and we come together as a congregation for worship and fellowship.

Since its earliest days in a wood frame house on 5059 Boca Chica Good Shepherd has had a world vision.  The church sent out its first missionary to Mexico who now serves in China.  Interestingly it continued to reveal its world vision by receiving me as Sr. Pastor in April 2005 having been born in Germany, raised in England and having spent several years in missions in Germany.

You may wonder, ‘What is special about Good Shepherd?’  The same thing that is special about every great church in this city, Jesus Christ!  We have no monopoly on Him, He’s no respecter of persons and will show up wherever He’s wanted.  All I know is that we want Him A LOT!  That’s probably because we need Him the most, as I said, we’re a building site, and we’re under construction by the Holy Spirit.

It is my passion to work towards raising a part of the Bride that will thrill the heart of Jesus.  We have A LOT of work to do, but if you enjoy seeking God and working towards seeing His work in you completed then you may enjoy working alongside the Saints at Good Shepherd.  We’re a work in progress in order to ‘Win for the Lamb’ the rewards of His suffering.  I pray that wherever you are on your journey of faith the Lord Himself may direct you to the safe haven He has prepared for you.

Grace and peace to you in Jesus Christ,

Andreas Lewis
